Hurricane

It was downgraded to a tropical storm before it hit us here in New England, but Irene hit us hard and did more damage than Hurricane Gloria in 1985. Over 700,000 people in Connecticut alone were without power afterwards and some just got it back over a week later!

This picture is from just down the road the morning after the storm. We spent the most lovely day with no electricity playing games, coloring pictures and cleaning the house while watching the rain and listening to the wind. We lit candles and the kids were so well-behaved ... I was so blessed. Living without power that week was inconvenient, but we are blessed and I'm praying for the people who are still without electricity and have to clean up major damage.
